Events we plan

SMC plans 3 to 4 major events every year, with the number of participants ranging from hundreds to thousands.

The events held in 2022 include the 11th International Biomedical Quiz, the 9th Heyday. Due to the COVID-19 situation, all of the events held had to be held online but this did not hinder SMC’s capability to host these events.

Biomedical Quiz (BQ)

From 2023 onwards, we have revamped our Biomedical Quiz to cater to local schools only. Biomedical Quiz is a biannual event which aims to provide a platform for students to develop their aptitude and potential in the biomedical disciplines through independent work and applying critical thinking to solve authentic medical challenges.

Every year, the questions are based on different themes. The themes are Infectious diseases in 2021, and Oncology in 2022.

C. B. Paul Science Quiz (CBP)

CBP is a local biannual event which aims to provide a platform for students to develop their aptitude and potential in the pure and applied sciences through critical thinking. Participants will be able to network with other like-minded students and scientists in Singapore.

Heyday (HD)

Heyday is an event which aims to provide fun learning opportunities to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Participants construct models and engage in various experiments learning different science concepts through fun and interactive science workshops.

For the years 2020 to 2022, participants and ACJC team leaders came together online using Zoom for a virtual Heyday. From experiential science investigations to arts and musical exploration, the team leaders guided participants through workshops to build social awareness, critical thinking, and articulation of thoughts and emotions through cooperative learning.
